Intro

Hi there, I hope you like these photos of me. They were taken over over many years and I think I was about 13 or 14 when my brother first taught me how to play the guitar. The early days were a real learning experience, the group never played anywhere, never really had a name but was a good platform to learn the guitar.

After this first group there was another which I don't have any photos for, this group played mainly youth clubs and weddings. We played all the popular music of the time.

The Whole Scene Gone, well this was really a good mix of music. The drummer was a mod (remember them) the rest of us were undecided, although I had definite leanings to be a rocker. One of my all time favourite groups at that time was The Kinks.

Smokey Blues. The early part of Smokey Blues existence was I think the best time for me, had great characters in the group and really got into Rhythm and Blues. We used to play stuff by John Mayall, The Cream, John Lee Hooker etc. No more weddings for us with this type of music, pubs and clubs was the order of the day. Over the years the group members changed and so did the character of the group although we still played the same sort of music our various interests finally caused us to drift apart.

Although we never became famous and never turned professional we used to play almost every weekend and really had some great times.

The collage of photos on the left is of me, so now you should be able to identify me in all of the photos. If in doubt I'm the tall dark handsome one.
